Crash on 10 Freeway
A fatal crash occurred on Thursday morning on the 10 Freeway in San Gabriel, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man and causing the closure of multiple westbound lanes during the morning commute.
The collision took place near San Gabriel Boulevard around 4 a.m., as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The victim, identified as Seroj Anjelian by the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the accident, all westbound lanes were briefly shut down, with only the HOV lane reopening later. However, traffic congestion persisted for miles despite the gradual restoration of lanes. Crews worked to clear the wreckage, allowing for the eventual reopening of all lanes.
Initial speculation suggesting a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver was not confirmed, leaving the cause of the crash under investigation by authorities.
