Collision on Highway 134
A tragic crash on Glendale's Highway 134 caused the death of at least one person and led to the closure of all lanes except one on Tuesday morning. The accident, involving a semi-truck and a white Honda, occurred around 5 a.m. on the westbound stretch of Highway 134 near Glendale Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SigAlert shortly after the crash, originally scheduled to end at 7:30 a.m., but extended for at least an hour after confirming that the Honda driver had died.
Sky5 images showed drivers slowly passing by the crash scene in the right lane, causing major congestion for those heading towards the Glendale area, as reported by Rich Prickett of KTLA 5.
"We can't confirm, but we believe that the body of the person who was declared dead here on the west side of the 134 is still inside that car," Prickett said just before 6:50 a.m. He noted congested traffic "up to Eagle Rock," Prickett added.
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes, including using Colorado Street to access Highway 5 or using Highway 210. Drivers heading north on Highway 2 are also urged to avoid the interchange with Highway 134. So far, no information has been provided about the victim's identity.
