Tragedy on I-5

In a tragic incident, a pedestrian lost their life after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 near East Village, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, around 5 a.m., on the southbound side of the highway, near the Imperial Avenue exit. According to CHP records, the pedestrian was seen running against traffic on the right-hand side of the road, leading to the fatal encounter with the vehicle. So far, no additional details have been provided about the exact circumstances of the collision, but it has been confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the causes of the tragic incident. Due to the impact of the accident, a SigAlert was issued shortly after, resulting in a partial closure of the highway with four lanes blocked. However, by 6:40 a.m., all affected lanes were reopened to traffic, although authorities continue to work at the scene to gather additional information that may shed light on what happened. This incident serves as a sad reminder of the importance of road safety and mutual respect between drivers and pedestrians on California's roads.
