Accident in Oakland

An accident in East Oakland left at least 16 people injured after an AC Transit bus was struck by a car that veered into its path after colliding with another vehicle on Friday, authorities said. The rapid transit bus was traveling north on International Boulevard at 54th Avenue when the collision occurred, transit spokesman Robert Lyles said. Twelve people were on the bus, including the driver. According to firefighters, three vehicles were involved in the incident and at least 16 people were injured as of Saturday, two of whom are in critical condition. The Chrysler was heading south on International Boulevard at an unknown speed when it collided with the Toyota while trying to turn left onto 54th Avenue, Lyles said. The out-of-control Chrysler crossed a raised median and entered the dedicated bus lane, where it collided with the bus. The drivers of a Chrysler 300 sedan and a Toyota Prius were also injured in the accident.
