Tragic Lakeville Highway Collision
A tragic incident unfolded on Lakeville Highway at Pine View Way, resulting in the untimely death of a 79-year-old woman. According to the Petaluma Police Department, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 12:37 p.m. last Thursday. The circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear, but it involved a collision between an eastbound sedan and a small westbound SUV. Upon arrival, medical personnel were confronted with a grim scene - the SUV had sustained significant damage to its driver's side, while the sedan displayed major front-end damage.
Paramedics swiftly assessed the victims, determining that the female driver of the SUV had sustained fatal injuries. As of now, the Sonoma County Coroner's Office has not yet released her identity. In contrast, conflicting reports suggest that either a 29-year-old or a 22-year-old man was in the sedan and suffered only minor injuries. He was promptly transported to a hospital for further medical care.
The subsequent investigation by traffic experts ruled out the involvement of driving under the influence (DUI) as a potential cause of the accident.
