Tragic Collision on I-805
Tragedy struck on Tuesday morning as a driver lost their life and a passenger sustained injuries in a crash on Interstate 805, according to authorities.
The incident, classified as a solo vehicle collision, occurred at approximately 3:01 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-805, just south of Adams Avenue, in the North Park area. Salvador Castro of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) provided details of the event in a press release.
The driver, identified as a 30-year-old man, was operating a gray Ford Focus southbound on I-805 when the vehicle veered off the roadway, ultimately colliding with an embankment.
The impact of the crash ejected the driver from the vehicle, leading to fatal injuries. Despite this, the passenger managed to exit the vehicle with minor injuries.
In response to the incident, authorities closed the right two lanes of southbound I-805 for investigation purposes. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an examination to determine if driving under the influence played a role in the crash.
