Fatal Crash Outside Royal Oaks
A devastating incident occurred last Friday afternoon when a two-car collision on Maher Road, near Tamara Lane just outside Royal Oaks, California, resulted in the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash unfolded shortly after 4:30 p.m. and involved a white Honda Accord driven by a 17-year-old from Hollister, who was reportedly speeding.
The Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Maher Road, crossed the double yellow lines, failing to maintain control. At the same time, a 29-year-old man from Watsonville was driving a Honda Fit northbound on Maher Road at approximately 30 miles per hour. The Accord driver's failure to negotiate a slight turn led to a collision with the Honda Fit.
As a result of the impact, the Honda Fit rolled over, and both the driver and the 16-year-old passenger, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, the 16-year-old passenger succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The 17-year-old driver from Hollister and the 29-year-old man from Watsonville sustained major injuries and were rushed to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
