Wheelchair User Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 8 Freeway in La Mesa
In a tragic incident on the 8 Freeway near Highway 125 in La Mesa, California, a wheelchair-bound pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle late Sunday evening.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. when a Mercedes-Benz traveling at an estimated speed of 45 mph collided with the man in the wheelchair as he was crossing the East County Highway. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz is suspected of DUI at the time of the accident.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials conducted interviews with the driver, suspecting impairment.
