A woman in her 30s died after being hit by a small SUV while riding her bike in northwest Fresno. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Polk and Fairmont, near Shaw Avenue. According to the police, the bicyclist was traveling north on Polk and made a sharp left turn when she was struck by the SUV heading south on Polk. Despite efforts by first responders, the woman died at the scene.
Lt. Robert Dewey of the Fresno Police noted that the bicyclist had a forward-facing light but lacked rear-facing lights, potentially contributing to the accident. Police are currently interviewing witnesses who called 911 about the crash. The driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
