Tragedy in Victorville
A child was airlifted to a trauma center after a shocking head-on collision that occurred Friday afternoon in Victorville. The accident, involving a black Mazda3 and a gray four-door vehicle, took place shortly after 4:00 p.m. on May 17, 2024, in the 14000 block of Dos Palmas Road, just west of El Evado Road.
The impact was so severe that emergency personnel had to request helicopter assistance to transport the injured child to Victor Valley Global Medical Center. In addition to the child transported by helicopter, another minor and an adult were taken by ambulance; the second minor was transported as a precautionary measure, while the adult complained of pain.
The magnitude of the accident was such that authorities were forced to close Dos Palmas in both directions while rescue and cleanup operations were underway. As for the causes of the accident, these are still under investigation by the Victorville Station of the California Highway Patrol.
This tragic event has not only shaken the Victorville community but also underscores the importance of road safety and caution while driving, especially in areas where traffic can be heavy.
