Tragedy in San Diego

A tragic accident occurred in Balboa Park on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old woman. The San Diego Police Department reported that the woman was driving a 2009 Subaru Forester on 3000 Florida Drive in the southbound lane around 2:30 p.m. At the same time, a 32-year-old man was driving a 2014 Toyota Sienna van north on the same roadway in the northbound lane. The man allegedly crossed over the center line into the southbound lane and collided with the woman's Subaru Forester in an "offset head-on" manner, meaning that only about 25% or less of the front of the van hit the woman's vehicle. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will release her identity. The San Diego Police Department stated that alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, and the Traffic Division is handling the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-847.
