Pursuit in Santa Rosa

An SUV fleeing from a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy crashed and caught fire at a Shell station on Hearn and Corby avenues in Santa Rosa, with no reported injuries. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. According to the Shell convenience store employee, the SUV collided with the gas station while being pursued by a deputy in a patrol cruiser. Despite the vehicle catching fire, its occupants managed to escape unharmed. The fire was quickly brought under control by the Santa Rosa Fire Department, and witnesses reported that authorities detained the SUV's occupants. It is unknown when the damaged gas pump will be replaced, but it is speculated that all gas pumps will likely remain closed for several days. The gas station employee could not provide details on the condition of the SUV driver or the reasons for the pursuit. There were also no reports of injuries to the station's workers or customers. The Santa Rosa Police and the California Highway Patrol collaborated at the scene to ensure safety and traffic control. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office could not be immediately reached for comment on the incident. The investigation into the crash and fire is ongoing to determine the exact causes and whether charges will be filed against the SUV's occupants.
