Tragedy in Escondido: Fatal Crash Involving Allegedly Drunk Driver Leaves 13-Year-Old Dead

A tragic event shook the community of Escondido when a collision between two vehicles resulted in the death of a 13-year-old child. The accident occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of North Broadway and Country Club Lane, a crossing that will now be marked by this tragedy. According to reports from the Escondido Police Department, the first officer to arrive at the scene of the accident found multiple people injured, one of them in critical condition. The police officers who responded immediately began resuscitation maneuvers until Escondido Fire paramedics arrived and transported three people to various county hospitals. Among them were an adult man and an adult woman, who were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital and Scripps La Jolla Hospital respectively. However, the most tragic fate awaited the 13-year-old, who was transported to Palomar Medical Center and, sadly, was later pronounced dead. Police authorities, after conducting preliminary investigations, indicated that alcohol consumption may have been a determining factor in this fatal accident. As a result, 20-year-old Alexander Tito Oroz was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and committing reckless vehicular manslaughter. Although Oroz was taken to Tri City Hospital for medical clearance, authorities plan to transfer him to Vista Jail to face the corresponding charges. The deceased child was traveling as a passenger in the vehicle driven by Oroz. For legal reasons, his identity has been withheld due to being a minor. Meanwhile, the identities of the other two injured individuals have not yet been revealed, and it is expected that more details about their health status and involvement in the accident will emerge as the investigations progress.
