Two children tragically died in California after being caught in a hillside collapse near the Shasta Dam. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, prompting a response from the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
The officers arrived at a campground area to find that rocks and debris had broken away from a hillside, causing the children to fall. Despite efforts from various agencies, including a search and rescue team and the dive team, the children were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies were transported to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office for further examination. The area downstream from the dam was closed off, and the Bureau of Reclamation was asked to lower water releases to aid in the recovery efforts.
