Tragedy in Baldwin Hills
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that two people died in a tragic three-car crash in Baldwin Hills last Saturday.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. when a Mercedes Benz with two occupants was speeding northbound on La Brea Avenue and Coliseum Street, losing control and causing a devastating collision.
According to the LAPD, the speeding vehicle initially collided with another car that was waiting to turn left onto Coliseum Street, causing the Benz to overturn and strike another nearby vehicle before coming to rest upside down.
Tragically, both occupants of the Mercedes, an African-American man and woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not revealed more details about the victims at this time.
The occupants of the other two vehicles involved suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene of the accident.
Assistant Watch Commander Clarence Perkins of the LAPD commented that the northbound section of La Brea Avenue, where the crash occurred, is known to be dangerous due to its steep incline, which causes many drivers to speed.
This tragic incident adds to a series of fatal accidents that have occurred in Southern California over the weekend. On Friday, two teenage brothers lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident in Rancho Cucamonga. Additionally, in a separate incident, a man lost his life on Highway 101 near Oxnard after being struck by several vehicles.
