SigAlert on the 134:

A multi-vehicle collision early Sunday morning led to an extended closure of the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway just west of Pasadena, causing significant traffic disruptions and a complex emergency response. The incident involved at least five vehicles, including a gray Ford and a white sedan. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SigAlert at 2:02 a.m. for the closure of all eastbound lanes on the 134 Freeway, just west of the Figueroa Street offramp. Initially, the alert was expected to last for two hours, but it was extended as cleanup and investigation continued. By 5:30 a.m., only two lanes remained blocked. CHP officers arrived on the scene after a report at 1:49 a.m., where they found one vehicle facing westbound in the middle lanes, creating a dangerous situation for oncoming traffic. At 1:53 a.m., a CHP officer reported that multiple vehicles were involved, debris was scattered across all lanes, and smoke was coming from one of the vehicles. The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched, but the arrival of Caltrans sweepers was delayed due to traffic congestion. At 2:55 a.m., reports indicated the sweepers were "stuck in traffic" while en route. By 3:27 a.m., CHP reported that the HOV lane and lane #1 had been reopened, providing some relief to stranded motorists. The remaining lanes remained closed for ongoing cleanup and investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and no details about potential injuries have been released at this time.
