San Marcos E-Bike Crash

Two young individuals riding an electric bicycle, or e-bike, were rushed to the hospital on Monday following a collision with a vehicle in San Marcos, as confirmed by local authorities. The incident unfolded when the San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a distress call at approximately 7:14 p.m. reporting an accident involving two individuals lying on the road at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Linda Vista Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that two juveniles had been traveling on an e-bike heading westbound along Grand Avenue when they were apparently struck by an unidentified vehicle. Both young riders were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility, where they received treatment for injuries that, while serious, were fortunately not life-threatening. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office (SDSO) has launched an urgent plea to the public to assist in locating the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident. It is reported that the driver left the scene of the accident before the arrival of deputies, and at present, there is no available information regarding a suspect. SDSO is encouraging anyone who possesses information about the collision or may have witnessed the events to come forward. They can contact the San Marcos Traffic Division at 760-510-5200 or send an email to Traffic Investigator Juan Soto-Rodriguez at juan.soto-rodriguez@sdsheriff.org. Witnesses who prefer to remain anonymous are also urged to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
