Rescue Mission
In a gripping turn of events, a man found himself in a perilous situation during an off-roading trip in San Bernardino County. On January 13th, an excursion took a dangerous turn when the Jeep he was in rolled over on Forest Service Road 2N47, located to the east of Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass area. The incident unfolded around 10:44 a.m., prompting a flurry of 911 calls.
The remote and challenging terrain made it a daunting task for first responders from the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Recognizing the need for immediate action, they called upon air support from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to transport personnel and equipment to the scene. Additionally, the firefighters dispatched two of their own all-terrain 4x4 rescue vehicles, a fire truck, and a medic ambulance.
Upon arrival at the crash site, the rescue team was met with a harrowing sight—a Jeep had overturned, and the occupant was trapped beneath the severely damaged vehicle. The situation was further complicated by steep terrain, fuel leakage, and unstable ground.
Undeterred, firefighter-paramedics sprang into action, combining advanced lifesaving care with intricate rescue techniques. After considerable efforts, they successfully extricated the man from underneath the Jeep. Swiftly, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department airlifted him to a local trauma center. At this time, information regarding the man’s condition remains undisclosed.
This daring rescue operation didn't unfold in isolation; it involved collaboration with the United States Forest Service, highlighting the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies in the face of adversity.
