Jacumba Cliff Crash

A tragic incident unfolded in the Jacumba area as a 52-year-old driver, Rosie Lee Johnson-Stewart from Los Angeles, lost control of her vehicle and plummeted over a 300-foot cliff. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity as the victim. This harrowing incident occurred on the evening of December 26 on Interstate 8 westbound at McCain Valley Road, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle, for reasons yet unknown, swerved across multiple lanes before careening off the highway, tumbling down an embankment concealed by thick vegetation and large boulders. Regrettably, Johnson-Stewart lost her life at the scene, while her 43-year-old male passenger sustained severe injuries. The medical examiner’s office determined the cause of her death as accidental, shedding light on the tragic nature of the incident.
