Oceanside Accident:

Two people were injured Tuesday morning after a car collided with a police vehicle in Oceanside, authorities say. Oceanside Police Department officers responded to reports of a major injury collision at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Roymar Road around 9:14 a.m., according to a release from the department. Police said a 60-year-old Oceanside resident was driving a white Toyota Corolla westbound on Mission Avenue toward a red light at Roymar Road. The individual drove around other stopped vehicles and into the bicycle lane before continuing through the red light without slowing down or stopping. Meanwhile, an officer driving a marked Oceanside Police vehicle was turning left at the intersection. The Toyota collided with the front of the police vehicle in the intersection, the release states. Police say the Toyota driver was transported to Scripps La Jolla with moderate injuries and is expected to survive. The officer who was driving the police vehicle was treated at Tri-City Medical Center for minor injuries and was released. It is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash, according to the police department.
