Fatal Phelan Crash
In a devastating incident that occurred on January 26, 2024, in Phelan, an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, two young girls, aged 1 and 13, lost their lives when a work van collided with the back of a Toyota. The accident took place at the intersection of Phelan Road and Nevada Road at approximately 1:35 PM.
Upon receiving the distressing call, California Highway Patrol officers and emergency responders from the San Bernardino County Fire Department rushed to the scene. They discovered two vehicles severely damaged - a white Ecoline Ford Van and a white Toyota Camry.
Despite valiant efforts to save them, the two young girls seated in the back of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the adult driver and a passenger of the Toyota sustained injuries of unspecified severity and were transported to a hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, the driver of the van emerged from the collision unharmed.
Preliminary reports suggest that the Toyota was heading westbound on Phelan Road, decelerating to make a left turn onto Nevada Road when, for reasons that remain unknown, the white Ecoline Ford Van rear-ended it. The California Highway Patrol's Victorville Station is actively investigating the crash, and as of now, there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol playing a role in the accident.
At this time, the identities of the two young girls have not been disclosed, leaving the community in mourning as they grapple with this heartbreaking tragedy.
