Fatal Hit-and-Run in Gardena
Gardena, California was struck by a series of tragic events on Sunday, beginning with a fatal hit-and-run incident in the morning. At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Gardena Police Department responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Marine and Budlong Avenues. Upon arrival, officers discovered two pedestrians injured on the road. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, one victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other was rushed to the hospital.
The identity of the deceased victim was withheld pending notification of their next of kin. Reports suggested that one of the victims was a child, although it remained unclear whether the deceased individual was the child or the other pedestrian.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an unidentified driver was traveling eastbound on Marine Ave before turning north onto Budlong Ave, where they collided with both pedestrians in the crosswalk. Shockingly, the driver fled the scene after the incident.
Earlier that same morning, at 3:54 a.m., authorities received a call regarding another tragic accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. This incident occurred at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard. Police found the pedestrian on the road and rushed her to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
In this earlier collision, a female driver traveling south on Vermont struck the pedestrian who was on the road. Unlike the later hit-and-run incident, the driver remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities.
Authorities urged anyone with information regarding either accident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
