Crash and Flooding Chaos

Amidst adverse weather conditions, Lake Elsinore encountered a tumultuous Monday as a crash and flooding on Railroad Canyon Road led to its full closure, prompting chaos and traffic disruptions. The stretch from Grape Street to Church Road remained inaccessible "for an unknown period of time," as announced by the city of Canyon Lake. Residents were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Initially reported by the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station, the incident saw both eastbound and westbound lanes closed, exacerbating the traffic woes. While there were no immediate updates on crash-related injuries, Wildomar city officials noted a water main break in the aftermath of the collision. Adding to the turmoil, Camino Del Norte, spanning from Main Street to the intersection of Dexter Avenue and 3rd Street, was also shut down in both directions due to flooding, with no indication of when it might reopen. Meteorological data from the National Weather Service highlighted Lake Elsinore's substantial rainfall, totaling 1.74 inches from Sunday evening to Monday evening, with further precipitation forecasted overnight into Tuesday. A flood watch remained in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by the city amidst the inclement weather.
