One person died in a car crash in South Oroville when the vehicle struck a bridge at 4 a.m. on Saturday, according to CHP Chico.
The car was traveling eastbound on Kusel Road when it veered off the road and hit the bridge. The driver and one passenger managed to exit the car and transport themselves to the hospital.
The driver, Dakotah OReily, suffered a broken wrist and facial cuts and bruises, while the passenger, Richard Overturf, sustained cuts and bruises.
Despite initial uncertainty, further investigation determined that OReily was responsible for the crash. OReily was arrested on charges of vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death.
The identity of the deceased passenger has not been disclosed. The crash did not lead to road closures or traffic control measures.
