In Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a tragic head-on collision that occurred on State Route 269, north of Ford Avenue, just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to officials, a man was driving a truck in the southbound lane when the driver of a Tesla heading northbound veered into the southbound lane. The collision was severe, resulting in the death of a passenger inside the Tesla at the scene.
Both drivers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center with significant injuries. The reason why the Tesla driver was in the wrong lane has not yet been determined.
Authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as the exact causes of the collision are being clarified.
