Dramatic LA Pursuit:
In Los Angeles, a man wanted for an alleged armed robbery led authorities on a dangerous high-speed pursuit on Wednesday, with his girlfriend and 2-month-old daughter in the car. The incident began with a group of three suspects linked to a robbery in Beverly Hills. Two of them were quickly arrested, but the third suspect managed to have his girlfriend pick him up, which initiated a chase that started in Hawthorne and extended to downtown Los Angeles.
During the pursuit, the suspect reached speeds of up to 80 mph on city streets, ignoring traffic lights and stop signs, and dangerously driving against traffic. While the public followed the event live on television, the situation inside the vehicle was streamed on Instagram, where the girlfriend was heard pleading with the suspect to stop and let her and their baby out of the car. The man, however, insisted that he didn’t want to go back to jail.
Finally, after nearly an hour, the chase ended on a dead-end street in the Blair Hills neighborhood, where the suspect was surrounded by patrol cars. After a brief standoff, the man and his girlfriend exited the vehicle, and both were arrested. The baby, who was unharmed, was cared for by a deputy, who comforted and looked after her until she was reunited with her mother at the sheriff’s station.
The suspect, who is on parole, is likely to face multiple charges, including robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm. It is still unclear if the girlfriend will face any charges.
