Crash on Highway 10

A tragic accident on Highway 10 left one person dead and three critically injured, according to authorities. The crash, which involved a wrong-way driver, occurred just after 1:50 a.m. on Sunday in the westbound lanes of the 10, near Overland Avenue in the Rancho Park neighborhood of West L.A. Prior to the crash, officers received calls about a motorist traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, confirmed officials from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to KTLA, also indicating that their initial investigation indicated that the crash was caused by that driver. The deceased victim has not been identified; it is unknown if they were in the vehicle traveling the wrong way on the freeway. No information has been provided about the injured individuals. Videos from the scene obtained by KTLA show emergency services from the Los Angeles Fire Department extracting the injured from the crushed vehicles before transporting them to nearby hospitals. The CHP is investigating whether the wrong-way driver was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. A SigAlert was issued for Highway 10 at Overland, and authorities completely closed the affected stretch of the highway during their initial investigation. The highway is expected to reopen at 7:30 a.m., according to law enforcement officials. The tragedy has shocked the local community and underscores the importance of road safety and responsible driving.
