Crash in Burbank

On the night of June 24, 2024, a traffic accident near the intersection of North Clybourn Avenue and Sherman Way in Burbank left a driver critically injured, as reported by Sergeant Stephen Turner of the Burbank Police Department. Around 11:10 pm, Burbank police received an emergency call about a vehicle accident. Rapid response teams from the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Police Department, Burbank Airport Fire Department, and Burbank Fire Department were swiftly dispatched to the scene, even before Burbank police arrived. Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident involved a vehicle with a single occupant traveling eastbound on Sherman Way. The driver failed to negotiate a left turn at the intersection of Clybourn Avenue and Sherman Way, continuing straight. The vehicle then collided with the east curb line, crossed a K-rail barrier and chain-link fence, finally coming to a stop within a parking lot located in the 2900 block of Clybourn Avenue, belonging to Million Air at Hollywood Burbank Airport. Subsequently, the vehicle caught fire, although the driver managed to exit before sustaining serious injuries. The injured driver was swiftly transported to a local Medical Center for urgent medical treatment. Burbank police officers arrived at the scene shortly afterward and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The traffic detective was notified and also responded to conduct further inquiries. "At this time, we cannot confirm whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision," stated Sergeant Stephen Turner. "However, based on preliminary findings, excessive speed appears to have played a significant role." The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the precise circumstances that led to the crash.
