Collision on Interstate 10

A man died in a traffic collision on Interstate 10 in Fontana on the morning of May 24, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred around 7:24 a.m. when a 46-year-old Rialto resident was driving a Kenworth tractor truck westbound on I-10, west of Sierra Avenue, in the number 3 lane, at an undetermined speed. The accident occurred when the vehicle veered to the left, causing the truck to jackknife. The out-of-control Kenworth veered to the left and collided with the concrete center divider and a metal pole. The force of the impact was so severe that the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene of the accident. The driver was swiftly transported to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead due to the serious injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have reported that alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have been factors in this tragic accident. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. The vehicle and road conditions are being reviewed, as well as possible distractions or mechanical failures that may have contributed to the crash.
