Last Monday, in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego, a 67-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle. According to the San Diego Police Department in a press release, the accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
The pedestrian was walking westbound on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. along the southern edge when he attempted to cross the road. At that moment, the driver of a 2012 Ford F-150 truck heading west from the Interstate 805 off-ramp onto Clairemont Mesa Blvd. had a green light. Unfortunately, the driver could not avoid hitting the pedestrian.
The man was rushed to the hospital with a skull fracture, though his injuries were determined not to be life-threatening. Investigators have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in this tragic accident.
