Chaos on 5 Freeway:

A multi-vehicle accident on the 5 Freeway in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles caused all southbound lanes to close for about two hours on Tuesday morning. The incident began just before 2:30 a.m. when a car crashed into the center divider, leaving debris scattered across the freeway lanes near Fletcher Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Several additional vehicles collided while trying to avoid the debris, resulting in a chain reaction crash. Video footage shows one of the cars flipping onto its side and sliding several feet after hitting another vehicle. At least nine vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in the accident. There is no immediate information on what caused the initial crash or any injuries resulting from the subsequent collisions. Due to the severity of the accident, the CHP issued a Sigalert to close all southbound lanes, diverting traffic to Glendale Boulevard, causing significant delays. Authorities eventually cleared the freeway and reopened the lanes around 4:30 a.m., allowing traffic to return to normal. This incident highlights the dangers of high-speed roads in unpredictable conditions and the importance of exercising caution while driving.
