Tragic End in San Diego:
SAN DIEGO — A driver died Tuesday in a rollover accident during a pursuit on State Route 15, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 7:44 p.m. on SR-15 southbound at the intersection with State Route 94 westbound, Salvador Castro with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said in a press release Wednesday.
The driver, a 42-year-old San Diego man, was fleeing from police in a Toyota Prius when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and overturned, according to the CHP report. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It has not yet been determined whether driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash.
Authorities shut down I-15 southbound to SR-94 westbound and SR-94 westbound at I-15 southbound during the investigation.
The identity of the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, is pending notification of his next of kin.
