Deadly Accident in Yuba:
YUBA COUNTY, California — One person died in a crash that occurred on Wednesday along Highway 70 in Yuba County. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the two-vehicle collision took place on the southbound on-ramp of Highway 70 at the intersection with Erle Road, south of Marysville. The southbound on-ramp at Erle Road has been closed, with no estimated time for reopening.
A spokesperson from the CHP explained that a big rig was heading west on Erle Road in the turn lane, approaching the on-ramp. Meanwhile, a person riding a dirt bike was traveling on the eastbound shoulder but was going the wrong way toward the on-ramp. The dirt bike collided with the truck as it was turning.
The dirt bike rider was taken to a hospital, where they later died. The truck driver was not injured. The identity of the deceased has not been released, but the CHP reported that the dirt bike had been stolen.
The fatal crash is under investigation. Authorities are working to clarify the circumstances that led to the collision and are assessing all factors involved to determine the cause of the accident.
