Two women lost their lives in a tragic car accident on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Butler and Clovis avenues in Fresno.
The accident, which involved a single vehicle, occurred at 5:30 p.m. The women, later identified as 66-year-old Yia Vang and 81-year-old Mai Yang Vang, were pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.
According to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Yia Vang allowed the vehicle to veer off the road at high speed for unknown reasons, impacting a pole and a concrete wall.
It is still unknown if the accident was caused by drugs or alcohol.
Clovis Avenue northbound was closed at Butler while emergency teams awaited the Fresno County Coroner's Office to remove the victims.
