17-Year-Old Arrested
A tragic incident that occurred on December 29, 2023, shook the community of Turlock as it resulted in the untimely demise of John Williams, a beloved basketball coach at Turlock High School. The fatal crash involved three vehicles and claimed the life of the 48-year-old coach, who had dedicated over two decades of his life to coaching.
Recently, on Thursday, a significant development emerged as the Turlock Police Department announced the arrest of a 17-year-old male in connection with the fatal collision. The teenager is facing serious charges including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, failure to obey restricted driver’s license provisions, unsafe speed, and reckless driving resulting in bodily injury.
The tragic loss of John Williams prompted the community to come together in support of his family. Turlock High School initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist Williams' family during this difficult time.
The arrested teenager has been placed into custody at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
