Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision
In Brentwood, California, tragedy struck early Saturday morning as the Contra Costa California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a fatal collision on eastbound SR-4. The incident, involving two vehicles, occurred around 4:30 a.m. west of Lone Tree Way. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and there were no other passengers involved.
According to initial investigations, one of the drivers was traveling in the wrong direction—a blue Scion TC was headed westbound in the eastbound lanes. Meanwhile, the second victim was driving a black Mazda 3 in the correct eastbound direction. The collision between these two vehicles was head-on.
The impact was severe enough to block all lanes, necessitating extrication efforts. However, by 7:12 a.m., the roadway was cleared for traffic.
At present, it remains uncertain whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. As such, the incident is still under investigation by the authorities.
Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses information regarding the events leading up to it to reach out to CHP Contra Costa in Martinez. They can be contacted at (925) 646-4980 or via email at
