Chaos on Riverside County Roads
In Riverside County, a torrential rainstorm on Monday morning created a series of chaotic incidents on the roadways, including spinouts, rollovers, and flooded lanes. Emergency responders rushed to an injury crash that blocked at least one lane of State Route 79 at County Landfill Road on Beaumont Avenue. One car had spun out and was facing the wrong direction of traffic, with passers-by assisting in directing traffic until tow trucks arrived. Unfortunately, no further details about the collision were immediately available.
Another significant incident occurred near the I-15 at the eastbound 60 connector, where lanes were blocked for an unspecified duration. The California Highway Patrol reported metal debris left on the road from an earlier crash, causing flat tires on at least two vehicles, including a black Porsche. The debris affected both the fast lane and the HOV lane in the area.
A Sig Alert was also reported at the Banning Scales on I-10 in the morning, involving a patrol vehicle. Although the extent of injuries was not reported, three lanes of eastbound I-10 were closed for just over an hour as tow trucks were summoned to the scene. The roadway was eventually reopened by 11 a.m.
Tragically, amidst all these crashes, a single-car rollover incident occurred on I-15 northbound near Nichols Road, resulting in one fatality. One lane of traffic remained closed for several hours during the subsequent investigation. Drivers were urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant for wet and flooded roads, even after the storm had passed.
