Tragedy Strikes San Marcos
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Thursday morning, a man lost his life after being struck by a truck in San Marcos, as reported by authorities.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the incident took place at the intersection of East Mission Road and Mulberry Drive at precisely 4:32 a.m. Responding swiftly to a report of a vehicle collision, deputies arrived at the scene to investigate.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that a 59-year-old man had been using the west crosswalk to traverse East Mission Road when he was struck by a silver Dodge Ram truck. The truck, driven by a 61-year-old man, was reportedly traveling eastbound on East Mission Road when the unfortunate collision occurred. Following the accident, the driver of the Dodge Ram stopped the vehicle and promptly dialed 911 for assistance.
In a bid to save the pedestrian's life, paramedics from the San Marcos Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene and administered life-saving measures. Tragically, despite their best efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.
To ascertain the precise cause of death and formally identify the deceased, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will carry out further investigation, with notification to the man's family being a top priority.
