School Bus Collision in Victorville

A concerning incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Victorville as a school bus carrying children was involved in a traffic collision. The incident occurred at approximately 4:07 pm on January 17, 2024, near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mesa View Drive/Monte Vista. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the bus driver immediately notified authorities that one student had sustained a head injury and might require medical attention. Thankfully, it appears that the injuries were not severe. Zaida S. Kemple, a member of the Victor Valley News Group on Facebook, shared her perspective on the incident. She mentioned that her daughter was among the students on the bus, which was en route from Quail Valley Middle School. Zaida noted that when the two cars collided, one of them ended up underneath the bus. Despite the frightening situation, both the students and the drivers involved in the collision emerged without any significant injuries. Stacy Fontano, another member of the VVNG, expressed her concerns about the safety of the intersection where the incident occurred. She suggested the installation of a traffic signal light and speed bumps to address the issue of speeding drivers. Fontano emphasized that the area should have a speed limit of 25 miles per hour, as it is not a freeway. As the investigation into the cause of the collision unfolds, it is being handled by the Victorville CHP station. Meanwhile, a tow truck was requested to remove a white Toyota Camry that sustained major front-end damage during the accident.
