Crash in Antioch
Late on a Saturday night in Antioch, an incident involving a sideshow took a dangerous turn when it led to a high-speed police chase. The events unfolded in the vicinity of Somerville and Highway 4 when officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) attempted to pull over a driver for excessive speeding.
The pursuit reached its climax near the Pittsburg Bart station, where the suspect's vehicle ultimately collided with a solid concrete support. As the crash occurred, CHP officers quickly shifted their attention to assisting the victims, but the situation took an alarming twist when other sideshow cars converged on the scene.
According to Nelson Fulgencio of the CHP, these sideshow vehicles arrived and started verbally confronting the officers. Some individuals even hurled objects at the law enforcement personnel, making the atmosphere more hostile. Thankfully, additional CHP units arrived promptly to support their colleagues on the scene.
The crash resulted in five victims from the suspect's car being transported to the hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident, despite the tense confrontation with the sideshow participants.
