Wild High-Speed Chase

In the early hours of Monday morning, a high-speed chase in Emerald Hills, San Diego, concluded in a disastrous crash, leaving two individuals and a police officer injured. The pursuit commenced at approximately 1:17 a.m. near Euclid Avenue when San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated onto eastbound Highway 94. The situation escalated as the suspect turned off their vehicle's lights and accelerated to nearly 100 miles per hour, as reported by SDPD Field Lt. Paul Phillips. The chase took a dangerous turn when the suspects attempted to exit at the Kelton Road offramp, resulting in their vehicle careening off the cliff and tumbling into a nearby canyon. Despite the chaotic scene, the pursuing police vehicle also veered off the roadway but managed to land upright as the driver made efforts to decelerate. The occupants of the suspect vehicle, identified only as male individuals, suffered severe injuries, while one officer complained of neck and back pain. The Kelton Road off-ramp remained closed for several hours, disrupting the morning commute, but was eventually reopened by 6:45 a.m.
