Arrested in Stanislaus County
In the early hours of New Year's morning, a tragic incident unfolded in rural Stanislaus County, California, resulting in the loss of two lives and the arrest of a DUI suspect. California Highway Patrol responded to a distress call just before 4 a.m., directing them to the vicinity of Lake Road, situated east of Roberts Ferry Road, near the Turlock Lake State Recreation Area, where a severe crash had occurred.
Upon arrival at the scene, first responders encountered a sedan that had overturned, teetering perilously on the road's edge. Shockingly, four individuals had been in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and two of them, a man and a woman occupying the backseat, had been forcefully ejected during the collision.
Tragically, both individuals who had been ejected from the car were pronounced dead at the scene. While their identities remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that one of the victims was a 28-year-old resident of Turlock.
Initial investigations have suggested that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances when the crash occurred. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Issac Urbeana, a resident of La Grange, has since been taken into custody and is now facing serious charges, including felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
