Two Fatalities in Highway 101 Collision Involving Semi-Truck Near Wendy Drive
In a tragic incident on Highway 101 near Wendy Drive, Newbury Park, CA, two individuals lost their lives following a collision between a car and a semi-truck early in the morning of October 31. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. when a 19-year-old driver from Pico Rivera, operating a 2016 Honda Accord, veered off the southbound lane and collided with a semi-truck that was parked. The force of the collision caused the Honda Accord to flip onto its roof, resulting in the ejection of a male and female passenger, as well as the driver.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, where they discovered the ejected man and woman had succumbed to fatal injuries. The 19-year-old driver, alongside a 20-year-old male passenger who was trapped inside the vehicle, were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The occupants of the semi-truck, a 25-year-old man from Oxnard and a 29-year-old man from Phoenix, fortunately, did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
Authorities confirmed that all involved parties remained at the scene to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made, and it has yet to be determined whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
