Tragic DUI Crash
In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred on Sunday night, January 21st, a fatal DUI crash near Templeton, California, has left the community in shock. The accident claimed the life of 32-year-old Edna Marquez Galindo, a resident of Fresno. The tragedy unfolded on the southbound lanes of Highway 101, just south of the Del Rio Road over-crossing, between Templeton and Atascadero.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) swiftly responded to the scene, where a solo-vehicle accident had taken place at approximately 10:42 p.m. According to CHP reports, the driver, identified as 37-year-old Oscar De La Mora Marin from Reedley, was allegedly operating his vehicle at an astonishing speed of 90 to 100 MPH while under the influence of alcohol.
The horrifying sequence of events began when De La Mora Marin allowed his vehicle to veer into the center divider. In a desperate attempt to regain control, he over-corrected, causing the vehicle to spin uncontrollably across both southbound lanes of the highway.
The situation escalated even further as the vehicle eventually swerved off the freeway, ultimately rolling over and coming to rest on its left side on Ramona Road. During this violent rollover, Edna Marquez Galindo was tragically ejected from the vehicle, sustaining severe injuries. Emergency responders rushed Galindo to Sierra Vista Medical Center, but despite their efforts, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
CHP's thorough investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Oscar De La Mora Marin on felony DUI charges. He has since been booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he awaits legal proceedings for his alleged role in this devastating and entirely preventable tragedy.
