Tragic Accident on Highway 97
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning as a log truck veered off Highway 97, ultimately overturning in a nearby field. The accident resulted in the unfortunate death of the truck's driver.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident transpired around 8:30 a.m. The log truck was traveling southbound, located just north of W Ball Mountain Road when it unexpectedly departed from the roadway. The truck's journey continued through an irrigation ditch before it finally came to a halt on its left side within the adjacent field.
While the road was wet at the time, preliminary investigations by the CHP suggest that weather conditions were not a contributing factor to the accident. However, a thorough examination of the incident is underway to determine the precise cause.
Tragically, the driver of the log truck was declared deceased at the scene. As of now, the identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed, pending review by the coroner's office.
