Tragic Accident in Madera:
A fatal accident occurred Sunday night in Madera County, leaving one person dead and several others with minor injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 11 pm on Highway 145 near Toja Road, east of Madera. The driver of a Dodge Charger, traveling westbound, veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Ford truck. The Ford's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the initial collision, a Nissan Rogue hit the Dodge Charger, causing the Nissan to spin and subsequently be struck by a Toyota Prius. A Dodge pickup then also collided with the Charger, which had come to a stop in the middle of the lane. The Dodge Charger caught fire, but officers managed to rescue the driver before the flames spread. Fortunately, the other drivers involved sustained only minor injuries. Authorities suspect that the driver of the Dodge Charger may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which likely led to this tragic chain of events.
