Tragic Accident Claims Life
A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a 79-year-old resident of Pacific Grove lost his life in a devastating collision. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed the unfortunate event, stating that it took place at approximately 2:40 p.m. on River Road and Las Palmas Parkway, just outside of Salinas.
The circumstances surrounding the accident involve a woman driving an Audi traveling southbound on River Road. Tragically, she crossed the double yellow line and collided with a Ford truck that was heading northbound on the same road. The impact was so severe that it caused the Ford truck to flip onto its roof.
Regrettably, the elderly driver of the Ford truck did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger from the truck was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, her condition currently undisclosed. Fortunately, the driver of the Audi sustained only minor injuries, making her recovery more likely.
At this point, the CHP has not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. An ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances and potential contributing factors leading to this tragic incident.
