Tragedy Strikes as Train Collision

In a tragic incident on Sunday morning, a person lost their life after being struck by a train in North County, San Diego. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that the collision occurred just before 5 a.m. along the Sprinter train tracks, specifically between Vista Village Drive and Guajome Street in Vista. This location is near mile post marker 109.5 on the North County Transit District train tracks, which run between the Oceanside Transit Center and the Escondido Transit Center. Responding promptly to the incident, deputies from the Vista Patrol Station and fire personnel arrived at the scene. Tragically, the individual involved was pronounced dead at the location, with authorities noting "obvious signs of death due to the injuries sustained." The identity of the deceased individual and the exact cause of death are pending notification to the family and examination by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit has initiated an investigation into the incident.
