Tragedy on the 215:

Three people died, and two others were injured after a brutal crash on the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino, according to authorities. A California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesperson confirmed that the collision occurred around 11:26 p.m. Saturday on the northbound stretch of the 215 Freeway near University Parkway. According to a CHP press release, a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia truck was stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, a 2018 Toyota Corolla veered off the road and crashed into the rear of the truck. The impact caused the Corolla to swerve left across several lanes of traffic, where it collided with a 2010 Acura MDX traveling northbound. After becoming disabled in the middle of the road, the Corolla was then hit by a 2024 RAM 3500 truck. Two women, including the driver of the Corolla, were ejected from the vehicle. A third victim was found inside the car. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, none of the victims have been identified. The drivers of the Freightliner, the Acura, and the RAM sustained minor injuries, according to the CHP. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether speed or impairment were factors in the crash. Investigations are ongoing. The northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway were temporarily closed after the crash but have since reopened.
