Tragedy on I-15

A 23-year-old woman from Murrieta, Ariel Bridgeman, tragically lost her life in a series of crashes on the northbound I-15 just north of Rainbow Canyon Road. The incident occurred early Friday morning and resulted in three additional crashes, with one person sustaining minor injuries. Bridgeman was driving a Honda Accord when, for unknown reasons, her car veered to the right and struck a CalTrans fence, then an embankment, before bouncing back onto the freeway. Her vehicle spun out of control and ended up facing the wrong direction in the middle of the freeway lanes. As she exited her car and stood in the #2 lane, she was struck by another driver who was unable to avoid her in the dark. The driver who hit Bridgeman remained at the scene, and DUI was not suspected. Due to the severity of the initial crash, a SIG Alert was issued, and all lanes were closed. Motorists were using the right shoulder to pass the collision scene. The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
